Mr. Floyd Reagan Simmons, age 78, of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on January 20, 2008. He was born January 31, 1929, in Holly Springs, Texas to Leon Gilbert and Vivian Rebecca Simmons. On November 30, 1952, he married Rose Mary Astone in Mt. Vernon, New York. He was a 1947 graduate of Jasper High School in Jasper, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951, from Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Army and was veteran of the Korean War. He worked as the assistant to Mitsuo Tashima, president and son of the founder of Minolta Business Systems until his retirement. In 2003, he was inducted into the Dallas Bowling Hall of Fame. Mr. Simmons attended Hunters Glen Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Simmons of Plano; son, Floyd Jeffrey Simmons also of Plano; daughter, Debbie Shimko and husband, Gary of Allen, Texas and grandchildren, Gregory Paul Shimko and Allison Paige Shimko. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. James Short officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
