Viola Ruth Shelton, age 85, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 17, 2008 in McKinney. She was born September 9, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Nanny (Johnson) Owens. On July 29, 1939, she married Raymond Robert Shelton in Prosper, Texas and celebrated over sixty years of marriage before he passed away. Mrs. Shelton was a wife and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, dolls, angels and bears. She was also a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church for over forty years. She is survived by her daughters, Francine Hannigan and her husband, Bill of Richardson and Donna Shelton Cates and her husband, Garland of McKinney; Vicki’s husband, James McDonald of Allen; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; and daughter, Vicki Nelle McDonald. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to: Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Society or Juvenile Diabetes Society, in honor of her daughter, Vicki McDonald.
