Robert moved with his parents to Elizabeth, MN and came to Grand Forks in 1917. He was a veteran of World War I. He married Pearl Lowell on Sept. 17, 1917 in Grand Forks. He was employed as a salesman for Lystad-Redick until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Robert & Pearl were the parents of Douglas & Beverly (Gary) Balow.

The cememony was performed by County Judge L.K. Haswell. The groom departed last Saturday for Camp Dodge, Des Moines, as one of the 88 soldiers drafted from that county for the first quota."
