Lillian Jean Craig Phelps, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 13, 2022. She was born on November 11, 1932 in Barnesville, Ohio; the daughter of the late Alan Rex Craig and Auna Frances Craig. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack Cooper Phelps, and her brother, John David Craig.
Jean is survived by her five children: Susan Phelps, Jacque Phelps and wife Vickie, Kerry Phelps and wife Jane, and Lisa Phelps Kuepfer and husband Joe, all of London, and Derek Phelps and wife Terri of Lexington; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Clark of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and sister-in-law, Judith Craig of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Jean graduated from Barnesville High School. She met her husband, Jack, at Western Kentucky University where she was a majorette. They married on December 5, 1953. Jean and her husband were charter members of the First Presbyterian Church of London which held its first worship service in 1956. Jean was active in the Women's Lydia Circle and choir. She taught the Adult Sunday School class for many years and served as an Elder.
Jean was a stay-at-home mom before deciding to join the work force at age 40. She was employed as a receptionist and secretary at Cumberland Valley Area Development District until her retirement. She also served on CVADD's Aging Council.

Funeral services for Lillian Jean Phelps will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Tim Noel officiating. Burial will follow in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.
