Andrew Wilson Lathem, age 89, of Allen, Texas, passed away January 20, 2008 in Waco, Texas. He was born December 4, 1918, in Sebastapol, Mississippi, the son of Andrew and Mattie (Brantley) Lathem. On January 2, 1941, he married Emma L. Ogletree in Forest, Mississippi. He served his country during World War II in the US Army. Mr. Lathem worked for the United States Government as a manager with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and for Walmart as a greeter. He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Woodard and her husband Dennis of Hewitt; grandsons, A.J. Whipple and his wife Jennifer of Arlington, Andrew Whipple and his wife Katherine of Apple Valley, CA and Adam Whipple and his partner, Vance Roper of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, his "little buddy" Joe and his "sweetie" Avery Whipple; and brother Jim Buck Lathem of Walnut Grove, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the service.
