Anna Buckingham Whiting was the daughter of Reverend Joseph and Harriett Lewis (Cleveland) Whiting. Her father was professor of Latin and Greek, and President of the faculty of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He has a monument erected to him on campus on the public square.
