Grace Warner Donovan, 85, long time resident of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at her home in Sugar Land.

Grace was born March 25, 1937 in Big Creek, Mississippi to Harry and Irene Warner. The youngest of 6 children, she lived in Big Creek until she finished high school in 1955. She graduated from Mississippi College where she prepared for a career in education.

Grace began her teaching career in Greenville, Mississippi in 1959. She also taught in Selma, Alabama before making her way to Baytown to join her sister Odein in educating the children of Goose Creek ISD. Grace taught at Highlands Elementary for a few years before taking a job at Cedar Bayou Junior High where she spent most of her career as a dedicated math teacher. She met the love of her life, Ken, while they were both teaching at Highlands and they married on July 31, 1965. She and Ken both retired from teaching in 1992.

Grace loved her family fiercely and was a loyal friend to many. She had a compliment for almost everyone she met. Grace was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 40 years. She really enjoyed playing games with family and friends, particularly bridge and forty-two. Grace loved to cook for other people and also enjoyed gardening, reading and sharing stories about her grandkids.

Grace was preceded in death by one baby daughter Leah Donovan, husband Ken Donovan, parents Harry and Irene Warner, brother Paul Warner and sisters Mary Alice Hollingsworth, Margaret Caldwell, Odein Gibbs and Bobbye Bouzek. She leaves behind her son Jason Donovan and his wife Denise and son Doug Donovan and his wife Tracy. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Will Donovan, Sara Donovan, Connor Donovan, Jacob Donovan, and James Donovan.

Grace's family will receive friends and relatives at a visitation on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX 77521. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling Ave, Baytown, TX 77520. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the ALS Association in recognition of Ken's battle with ALS.
