DALHART - Stella R. McGaugh, 92, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Bob McAllister, senior adult pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home.
Stella Roberta Taylor was born April 7, 1915, in Sayre, Okla., to Eddie and Leona Goin Taylor. She was raised in Sayre, where she graduated from high school before going to nursing school in Elk City, Okla. Stella married E.L. McGaugh on April 17, 1939. They moved to Dalhart in 1946.
She was a nurse in Dalhart until she moved to Sunray in 1992 to be closer to family. Stella was a member of First Baptist Church and loved baking and "relaxing."
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. McGaugh; a son, Glenn; a grandson, John Glenn; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include a son, Dick McGaugh and wife Ernestene of Sunray; a daughter, Judy Fairbairn and husband Dennis of Shallowater; grandchildren, Annette Rollins and husband John and Shane McGaugh and wife Kerrie, all of Sunray, Douglas McGaugh and wife Joanna of Dalhart, Sandra Noack and husband Tim of Flower Mound and Jennifer Fairbairn, Jessica Fairbairn and Christopher Fairbairn, all of Shallowater; 11 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
