Allan Verner Eskel, age 80 of Covington, MI, passed away on the afternoon of September 18, 2022 on his childhood farm. He was born in Covington, MI on April 4, 1942 to Verner and Julia (Saarinen) Eskel. He was a graduate of L'Anse High School and Jacobetti Center at Northern Michigan University. He married Lowella Howes on September 15th, 1962. They resided in Covington their whole marriage and raised four children. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was employed by CCI mining company for 31 years as a welder. After retirement, he worked for his son logging, fulfilling his lifetime dream of working in the woods. His favorite pastimes were deer hunting and cutting firewood. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and hearing about their lives.

He is survived by his wife Lowella, daughters Lori (Jack) Messer, Suzanne (Brian) Mankee, Betty (Michael) Cangemi, and son Allan (Hannah) Eskel Jr., eight grandchildren, Joey Robillard, Sara Messer, Kate Messer, Josh Manninen, Hailey Mankee, Miles Mankee, Frank Cangemi and Samantha Cangemi, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters, Kathryn, Helen, Karen and grandson Brandon Manninen.

Above all else, Allan hated "cows" which Lowella loves.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Covington with Pastor Richard Little officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and a luncheon at the church.
