College on a football scholarship. After college he joined Deposit Guaranty National Bank and was with them until moving to Kennesaw in 1981. Here he worked for Lockheed-Martin Aircraft Corporation, Georgia Baptist Hospital and Suntrust Bank as a
System Analyst/Programmer until retirement. He was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Jesse and Kathleen Landfair Baxter; and son, John Scott Baxter. Surviving are his wife of over 44 years, Lanie Nutt Baxter; and siblings in Mississippi.
