Catherine Elizabeth, the daughter of Leonard and Leona (Foss) Beissel, was born on October 1, 1953, in Hastings. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1972, Kathy was united in marriage to Michael "Mike" Steinhibel on May 19, 1973, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. Kathy was a longtime employee at Smead Mfg. and retired in 2015 following forty-three years of employment. She cherished the time she could spend with her family, especially her grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed sewing, reading, and simply being home. No matter the situation, Kathy was always the caregiver to anyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Richard, Barbara Seleski, Robert, and Sharon; and by her son-in-law, Michael Ficker.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Stacy Ficker (Dan Niebur), Jason (Cari) Steinhibel, and Jon (Erin) Steinhibel; grandchildren, Sara, Madison, and Paul Ficker, Tyler and Joshua Callahan, Michael Steinhibel, and Audrey and Maddox Steinhibel; siblings, Mary Beissel, Theresa (Allen) Andersen, Ron Beissel, Dave (Connie) Beissel, Carol (Mark) Peters, Tom (Pam) Beissel, and Dan (Mary Ann) Beissel; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
