Mrs. Beulah Sneed, 85, of Hansford, died
Tuesday in Montgomery General Hospital
from burns received during a fire at her
home Monday evening.
Formerly of Orgas, she was an 18-year
resident of Hansford and a member of Old
Kanawha Baptist Church at Pratt.
Surviving: sons, Claude R. Sneed of
Hansford, Ret. Lt. Col. James E.
Sneed (Helen Magee) of
Pueblo, Colo., Gary Wayne Swisher of
Cleveland; two grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Pryor
Funeral Home, East Bank, with the Rev.
Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will
be in Adkins Cemetery, Naomi. Friends
may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the
funeral home.

3 Persons Hurt In Hansford Fire...
Three persons were injured yesterday in
an apartment fire in Hansford, which
caused an estimated $18,000 damage.
Mrs. Beulah Sneed, 85, of Hansford was
taken to Montgomery General Hospital
were she is in satisfactory condition. She
suffered first and second degree burns on
her face, back and arms. The blaze erupted
at5:50 p.m.
Also injured were David Samples, 19, of
the Pratt Volunteer Fire Dept. and assistant
fire chief Terry Kirk of the East Bank
Fire Dept. Samples suffered severe hand
lacerations and Kirk suffered second degree
burns. Both were treated and released
at Montgomery General Hospital.
The Pratt, East Bank, Smithers, Handley
and Montgomery fire departments
extinguished the blaze and were able to
keep it from spreading to three other units
in the apartment building. Damage was
confined to three rooms of one apartment.
According to Chief Charles Veazey, of
the Pratt Fire Dept., the cause of the fire
is still unknown and is being investiaged.
He suspects an open heater may have
caught Mrs. Sneed's clothing on fire.
