Dale was the product of a farmer and a musically inclined mathematics professor. The end result was a classically trained musician who had a passion for restoring old German cars. He derived as much pleasure from playing a piece by Bach on piano or organ as he did tuning his 1973 BMW 2002. Dale found music first. It blossomed during his years at Reitz High School in marching (trombone) and concert band (baritone) and through his service as a church organist. Music was the path that led him to Indiana University where he studied classical organ and was a member of the IU Marching Band. He ultimately chose to earn a degree in Business Administration and Management. At the same time Dale was becoming an accomplished musician, he was becoming a good mechanic. He bought, repaired, and sold many old cars throughout his life. To support his love of expensive musical instruments and old cars, Dale worked in the banking and credit union software industry. He held a variety of positions related to software development, testing, support, and managing teams of developers while living in a number of cities from coast to coast. Seattle, Washington was his home for the last two decades. He developed a strong and devoted family of friends throughout the country. As Dale was approaching his retirement years, he felt the tug to return to Evansville to spend more time with his immediate and extended family. Sadly, time ran out before he could realize his retirement goals. Dale Robert Carr was born August 27, 1956 in Evansville, Indiana. He was a 1974 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School and a 1979 graduate of Indiana University.
Preceding Dale in death are his parents Vollie and Jane Carr.
Dale is survived by his siblings Karen (Carr) Godsey of Evansville, Bruce Carr (Lynn) of Evansville, Steve Carr (Jennifer) of League City, TX, and Valerie (Carr) Zapp (John) of Jacksonville, FL as well as many nieces, nephews, and many Carr cousins. He is also survived by his Aunt, Patricia Finn of Ormand Beach, FL and many Finn cousins.
A memorial was held in Seattle on Saturday, June 12, 2021. His final resting place is next to his mother in Bellfontaine Cemetery in Mount Vernon, IN. Published in Courier Press on October 7, 2022.
