Gladys Irene Ireland Lee, 90, of Arapahoe, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at home.

She was born and raised on her family farm in Alliance. She worked as a buyer for women's fashion at Belk of New Bern then moved to Charleston, SC where she worked in the mayor's office. She returned home to care for aging parents then worked as a teller at First Citizens in Bayboro eventually becoming the Branch Manager of First Citizens in Arapahoe where she retired.

Gladys was a member of both Alliance Methodist Church and Bethany Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph M. Lee, Sr.; brothers, Leut. Clifton O. Ireland, Guy F. Ireland, Jr., and Alton R. Ireland; and sisters, Glenda Ireland Mayo and Vernell Ireland.

Left to cherish her memory are husband, Jack Lee; sons, Ralph M. Lee, Jr. and Clifton Earle Lee; sister, Omagrey Ireland Riggs; granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Lee; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 9th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Merritt Watson officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Oriental Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
