She was a seamstress at the Dixon State School retiring in 1979, and owned and operated Hobby Girl Ceramics, Dixon, prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Cook was born on October 27, 1925, in Crab Orchard, IL, the daughter of John Shelly and Pearl Jane (Prather) Bain. She married Robert Cook on June 14, 1942, in Warrenton, MO.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerry (Betty) Cook, Marty (Norma) Cook; one daughter, Shirley (Ed Lieving) Long, all of Dixon; one brother, James (Carol) Bain, Lake Orion, MI; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Nelson Eugene Cook; three brothers, Nelson, John, and Louie Bain; and two sisters, Jenny Griffith and June Blackburn.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006, at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks, pastor, of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon. Visitation will be from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
