Wesley Gale Davidson Jan. 31, 1920 B Jan. 31, 2008 Wesley Gale Davidson died on his 88th birthday, January 31, 2008 with family at his side at the Alpine Way Special Care Unit in Shelton. Wes was born in Tacoma on January 31, 1920, to Robert and Bertha Davidson of Vaughn, Washington. He graduated from Vaughn High School in 1938, attended college in the Puget Sound, and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Dow, of Lakebay, on August 16, 1941. Wes was a World War II veteran and then logged on the Key Peninsula, Kitsap Peninsula and the Hood Canal. In 1954, he and Pat, and their two children moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where Wes was one of the first loggers to work on the Ketchikan Pulp Co. Long Term Timber Sale. In 1957 he was the founding president of the Alaska Loggers Association. Wes was a very active and respected member of Vaughn and the Ketchikan community. After retiring from logging in 1971, Wes authored a book entitled, "Our Alaska: Logs, Lakes, Lures, and Landings" in which he recounts boating, hunting, fishing, lapidary work, rock hunting, photography, RV travel and beach combing all over Alaska's panhandle. He is survived by wife Patricia, daughter Lynda Adams, son-in-law Bob Adams, all of Ketchikan, son Rod Davidson, of Lacey, daughter-in-law Nancy Davidson of Shelton, one grand son, one grand daughter, and five great grand-children. He is also survived by four sisters in the Puget Sound area, a sister-in-law, in Chandler, Arizona as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Washington, Oregon and Alabama. Memorial services will be in Vaughn on Thursday, February 14th at the Vaughn Cemetery (1:00pm) and the Civic Center at 2:00pm Memorial services will also be in Ketchikan on Saturday, February 23, at the Methodist Church at 2:00pm.
