James Otis Young, 90, widower of Elizabeth Newton Young died June 11, 2006 in Halifax Regional Hospital. Born and reared in Virgilina, Otis served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was retired from Burlington Industries where he worked as a machinist for many years. His hobbies included bee keeping and gardening. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Clarksville Baptist Church, where Otis was a member, with the Reverend Henry Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery. Survivors are his son, James Otis Young, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; daughters, Joyce Y. Womble of Nashville, NC and Phyllis Y. Knapp of Durham, NC; and sisters, Annie Laura Brooks and Marion Critcher of Oxford, NC; and Mary Lou Jones of Roxboro, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Craig Womble, Jeff and Daniel Knapp; and special friend, Alma Terry.
