Jewell Elaine Johnson, 81, passed away February 22, 2001 in Bakersfield. Pastors Bill and Sara Haldemann-Scarr will officiate.

Mrs. Johnson was born March 20, 1919 in Cowlington, Oklahoma and resided in Kern County for 64 years. She was a member of the Church of Brethren at A and Palm Streets. Jewell was very active in the PTA and was the past president. She was also involved in the Boys and Girls Scouts.

Jewell was a devoted wife and mother to her husband of 62 years, Clarence J. Johnson of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Terry Young of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Mike Johnson and fiancée Glenda Mays of Aromas, California; daughter, Kathryn Johnson of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Hale of Sacramento, Dick Hale of Bakersfield and Cliff Hale of Wasco and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at California Care Center for their excellent care they gave our loved one.
