Wounded : Nov. 29th, 1944, 11.00 am, Weyersheim (France), on abdomen, spine, Trunk, lung by bullets. He was hospitalized.
Died of Wounds : Dec. 4th, 1944, 10th Field Hospital, APO 758, Mutzig (France). Temporarily buried at United States Military Cemetery, Hochfelden (France), Plot : A, Row : 7, Grave : 77. Permanent Buried at Brashear Cemetery, Brashear (MO).
Awards : Bronze Star (Posthumously), Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Medal
More information: His section was attacked while the troops are dismounted, James made sure his comrades took cover, staying under fire to cover them. The entire platoon escaped without any wounded when James was seriously wounded by attracting all the fire arms on him. For this action he was decorated by the Bronze Star.
