She had been in poor health for several months prior to her death, she died in a Honolulu hospital. She was born in Honolulu on October 25, 1870 the daughter of the late Charles Alfred Castle and Mrs. Claire Eloise (Coleman) Castle. He was the oldest son of Samuel N. and Mary Castle of an early missionary group to Hawaii.
In addition to the widower she is survived by a son, Benjamin Lodge Marx Jr., adopted, and an adopted daughter Mrs. Drusilla E-William King Jr., and by four grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Edith B. Williams of Honolulu and her nephew Lt. William E. Cartwright USNR.
Inheriting the missionary tradition of community helpfulness and humanitarian service, Mrs. Marx was interested in many philanthropies and welfare institutions. She was active in the formative period of the YWCA of Honolulu being a member of the board of directors and the treasurer and a member of managers of the Henry and Dorothy Castle kindergarten long conducted on King Street near the present junction with Kapiolani Blvd. This kindergarten is now at the University of Hawaii, in a special building through the Castle Foundation.
