She was born April 25, 1923, in Pollock to John H. and Pauline (Bieber) Dale and was baptized Nov. 18, 1923. She received her education in Pollock, graduating from Pollock High School in 1941. After high school she worked at the Bismarck Hospital in Bismarck, N.D. She returned to Pollock to work in the Post Office for Milton Tracy.
Gertrude married Alfred Odde on Nov. 1, 1943, in Pollock, where they lived until his death on July 14, 1944. On Nov. 6, 1947, Gertrude and William P. Bauer were married in Herreid and made their home in Pollock. Three children were born to their union; Carl William, Wilma Pauline and Phyllis Ann. Gertrude worked for Carlson Cabinetry and also worked at Borrs Store. Due to back problems, she stopped working outside the home and became a homemaker. She was also an Avon Lady for a few years.
William died July 4, 1971.
Gertrude married Christian Stock Jr. on Aug. 20, 1973, in Wishek, where they made their home. Christian died Nov. 7, 2001. Gertrude remained in their home in Wishek until Feb. 26, 2004, when she entered the Wishek Home for the Aged.
She was a member of Pollock Lutheran Church and after moving to Wishek became a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek.
Gertrude is survived by her two daughters, Wilma Wiest of Wishek and Phyllis (Victor) Fleener of Belmond, Iowa; two grandsons, Darrin Wiest of Glenwood, Minn., and Donavin Wiest and friend Cari Bernhardt of Wishek; five granddaughters, Darci (David) Feist of Wishek, Danielle (Tony) Jalan of Grand Forks, N.D., Tabitha Glaze of Killeen, Texas, Victoria Fleener and friend Shawn Mewes of Mason City, Iowa and Nikki Fleener of Belmond; four great grandchildren, Daniel, Dorinda and Desiree Feist of Wishek and Ezekiel Jalan of Grand Forks.
Her husbands Alfred, William and Christian, her son Carl, her parents, and her brother Robert Dale preceded her in death.
The funeral for Gertrude will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek. A second service will be held Friday, Feb. 1, at Pollock Lutheran Church in Pollock. Burial will be at Gale Cemetery in Pollock.
