Dr. Clark 'Mac' McClure, M.D., 81, a longtime physician in Knox, Ind., died of heart failure at his home, 5100 North Ocean Blvd.,33308, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2004. Mac died with his wife, Carolyn Kizer McClure, several family members and hospice nurses at his side.

A graduate of Bloomington, Ind., High School, Mac graduated from Indiana University and the I.U. Medical School. While at Indiana University, he was on an NCAA winning track team.
A World War II veteran, Mac served in the United States Army and was one of the first soldiers into the Polish concentration camps.

He held a private pilot's license and enjoyed flying his own twin-engine plane for many years. An avid golfer, he was past president of the Plymouth Country Club and enjoyed summers at his and Carolyn's home at Pretty Lake.

While in Knox, he was in partnership with the late Dr. Howard Henry and later served as an ER physician in Valparaiso. Mac was a member of the American Medical Association and the College of Emergency Room Physicians. He retired from medicine in 1984, to Ft. Lauderdale where he was on the board of his condominium and past president of the Sea Ranch Club Condo Association.

Mac and Carolyn Kizer were married in South Bend, Ind., on March 17, 1962. He is survived by Carolyn and by their family: three daughters and two sons.

They are: Dr. William and Karen McClure and their children, Taylor and Kelsey; Dr. Lynn and Jan McDonald and their children, Brook and Nash, all of Bend, Oregon; Cindy McClure, Portland, Oregon; Cathy and Peter Buchanan of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and their children, Caitlin, Allison, Courtney and John; and Steve and Tina McClure of Ft. Lauderdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Elizabeth 'Birdie' Johnson McClure.
Family services will be held in Ft. Lauderdale.
