Gail Annette Kiser Turman
August 31, 1945 - April 23, 2001
Charlotte - Dr. Gail Annette Kiser-Turman, died peacefully, Monday, April 23, 2001, at the home of her brother, after a five month battle with cancer. She is the daughter of Walter Webb Kiser of Charlotte and the late Mrs. Lottie Bumgardner Kiser.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Kiser-Turman will be conducted Thursday, April 26, 2001, at 11am at Harry & Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Road, with the Rev. Tim Smith, Rev. Randy Bishop, and the Rev. Gipsie Miller officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Dr. Kiser-Turman received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from UNC-Charlotte, her Masters Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and PhD in Nursing from the University of Virginia. During her career she was Assistant Professor of Nursing at Clemson University and was on the teaching staff of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. She was an active member of professional organizations and frequently made presentations of her research. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Dr. G.T. Turman of Oshkosh, WI, and brothers Jim Kiser and wife Nancy, Larry Kiser and wife Willena; and a sister, Sylvia Kiser Greene and husband Johnny. Also surviving are nephews, Stephen Greene and wife Jill, James L. Kiser, Kip Kiser and wife Kim, Danny Kiser, Dr. Robert Kiser and wife Karen, and Kenneth Kiser; nieces DeAnne Greene Lawson and husband Mark, and Suzanne Kiser Knupp and husband Bryan; great nephews Brandon, Bret, Christopher, Kyle, Zack and Bryson; and great nieces Brooklyn, Caroline, Brielle, Kayln and Selwyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 211, Charlotte, NC, 28202.
