Foster died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leonard Gartland, 823 Washington Street, Spencerport, NY, at the age of 80 years. He was a member of the Ferris-Goodridge Post, American Legion,having served in World War I; member of C.S. Upton Hose Company and Spencerport Volunteer Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association; member of the Cadet Corps under Judge Benton; lifetime member of the First Congregational Church (WhiteChurch) of Spenceport; charter member and director of the Ogden Historical Society. He was a member of the Executive Committeefor the Spencerport Centennial-Ogden Sequi-centennial of 1967.Foster began work in his father's hardware store--which he and his brothers continued to operate until 1941. The scarcity of labor and materials forced them to disband. He then went to work for the General Railway Signal, from which he retired in 1958
