Delores Ruth Nunn

Delores passed away Sept. 20, 2022, at age 101 in Lake Oswego, Ore. She was born Oct. 31, 1920 to parents Gustav and Augusta Netz in Salem, Ore., where she grew up attending Salem schools. After graduating from Willamette University in 1942, she enrolled in the Medical Technology program at the University of Oregon Medical School, which is now known as OHSU. While at OHSU, she and Warne married when he came home on leave from Marfa, Texas where he was stationed at Marfa Army Air Force Base during World War II. She joined him there and was employed as a medical technologist in the base hospital laboratory. Their first child was born in Texas, and when the war was over, they returned to Salem to make their home, where two more children were born to the family.
When the first child entered college, she went back to work as a medical technologist at Salem Hospital and later at Capital Medical Laboratory, also in Salem, where she worked until retirement in 1983. She enjoyed a very satisfying career in the medical technology field.
The family moved to Lake Oswego in 1967, and in 2001 she and Warne moved to Mary's Woods Retirement Home. Warne passed away in 2007 after 64 years of a very happy marriage.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stanley; first granddaughter, Kristen Bauck; husband, Warne; and son-in-law, Harlan Young. Surviving are daughters, Kathryn Young, Linda Schaefers (Mike); and son, Robert Nunn (Kandis). Grandchildren are Andrew Bauck (Tracy), Hayley Nunn (Ben Burnett), Sara Schaefers Baker (Kyle), and Molly Schaefers Blackburn (Jon). Great-grandchildren are Levi and Henry Bauck, Petra and Elisabeth Burnett, and Kitsyn and Hayden Blackburn.
Delores was a lifelong Lutheran.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m ., on what would be Delores' 102nd birthday, Oct. 31, 2022, in the chapel at Mary's Woods, 17400 Holy Names Drive, Lake Oswego. Remembrances may be sent to Mary's Woods or to Willamette University.
