Elmer F. Owens, 83, R.R.4, Richardson Addition, Greensburg, died at 6:15 a.m. today, Jan. 31, 1991 in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 17, 1907 in Decatur County, the son of William H. and Mary C. Grimes Owens. His first job was delivering groceries by horse and buggy in Greensburg and he also worked at the Cyclone Wire factory and retire din 1969 from the Farm Bureau Coop where he worked 28 years as a truck driver. He had served in the Indiana National Guard, and was a member of the Eagles.

On Dec. 13, 1943, he married the former Gladys L. Powers, and she survives; with one son, William Owens, Greenfield, Ind., four daughters, Mary Jean Gustafson, Chicago, Ill., Dorothy Rubbe, Greensburg, Beverly Ruble, Greensburg and Mrs. Charles (Marybelle) Duncan, Greensburg; one brother, Orville Owens, Greensburg; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Devine, Anna Hall, and Hazel Haley, and by five brothers, Clifford, Albert, Noah, Paul and Winford Owens.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. Robert Browning officiating.

Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
