Vada Rae Cross, 85, of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed away Sept. 16, 2022, at Siloam Springs [Ark.] Regional Hospital. She was born to Thomas Kirkland Park and Vergie Lee Mason Park on Jan. 27, 1937, in Flint, Okla.

Vada had worked at Allen's Canning, Cobb Hatchery, had cooked along with her sister at the Wagon Wheel Cafe in West Siloam Springs, Ark., and retired from the U.S. Post Office as a Rural Route Carrier after 14 years. She enjoyed oil painting, reading western novels, and dancing - a pastime she continued well into her sixties. In recent years she missed going to church and connecting with her friends at the Siloam Springs Bible Church.

Vada was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Dana Ann Cross, twin sister Veda Sappington, and additional siblings Wanda Keating, Leota Kendrick, and Duane Park. Vada is survived by her children Dallas of Highfill, Ark., Travis of Colcord, Okla., Waco of Denver, Colo., Cody of Stillwell, Okla., Donna Smith of Grove, Okla., and Toni Shelley of Watts, Okla., seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 5-8 pm Fri., Sept. 30, 2022, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home. Graveside service: 2 pm Sat., Oct. 1, 2022, at Johnson Cemetery in West Siloam Springs, Okla., officiated by Pastor Bruce Boehmer.
