Son of Horace Byron Colley and Abby O Erichsen Colley Payne. After graduating as E. Company Commander from Georgia Military Academy in 1958, he continued his education at Armstrong State College. While working summer breaks in the credit department of Sears, Roebuck Co., he becaming one of the youngest loan managers for this major retail giant. He served as President of Commercial Credit Lending Association. He then started the leasing and credit card departments for Savannah Bank. He served as President of Effingham National Bank, and in his later years, he became the Executive Director of Consumer Credit Counseling and provided free financial education and responsibilities to schools, businesses and churches. He was a local and regional President of The Savannah Jaycees. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Judge Lawrence G Dillon. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; son, Dr. Byron Colley (Ashley); grandchildren, Logan Pass, Jessa and Hayden Clark, Grant, Hamilton, and Pierce Colley; sister, Abby Burke; nephew, Patrick Burke (Jesse); niece, Bree Burke; sister-in-law, Glenda Eloge; and mother-in-law, Gloria Dillon.
