I cannot figure out who her biological father is. Her mother is Ada M. Underwood Ramage. I did not find a census where Ruth lived with her mother Ada or her husband Orval. I found that Ruth was 8 in 1930 she lived with Ada's parents Sarah Jane Moore and John Moore. Ada did not live with them at this time. Sarah remarried after Ada's father John H Underwood died in 1910. On the same census there is also a Louise Underwood listed and she is 5 years old at the time. I am wondering if she is also one of Ada's children and if so maybe by the same father as Ruth's. I cannot find anything else on Louise on any other census. Maybe Louise died?

Shirley Ann Sherfield was raised by her father's mother and grandmother. Their names are Aline O. Young and Betha C. Palmer. This was according to a census record.
Jerry Sherfield (Ruth's son and Shirley's brother) was raised by Ruth's mother and father Ada and Orville according to the 1950s census.
