Funeral for William Kohl Held Today

Former Resident Died Sunday in Omaha at Age of 81

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist church for William C. Kohl of Omaha, former resident of Madison, who died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Knapp, in Omaha. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Kohl was just over 81 years of age.

William C. F. Kohl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kohl, was born at Pommeran, Germany, October 8, 1862. Just after he was one year old, he came to America with his parents who settled at Portage, Wisconsin, where they lived for six year. In 1871, he came to Nebraska with his parents, who settled on a homestead in Kalamazoo precinct.

On December 30, 1891, he was united in marriage to Carolina Schmitt and they settled on a farm in the same section as the family homestead. They resided on this farm until the fall of 1911, at which time they moved to Madison.

To this union was born one child, a girl who passed away in infancy. Mr. and Mrs Kohl adopted and reared two children, Clifford and Martha. Mrs. Kohl passed June 16, 1922. In 1925 Mr. Kohl moved with his daughter to Omaha where he has since resided.

Besides his daughter, Martha, he has one son, Clifford, one brother, Albert Kohl of Meadow Grove, two sisters, Mrs. Martha Seip of Lindsay and Mrs. Mary Gronau of Sisseton, South Dakota; and five grandchildren.
