William H. Swegman, 84, Greensburg, died Thursday at the Indiana Order of Odd Fellows Home, Greensburg. He was the father of a Shelbyville woman.

Born Sept. 7, 1914, in Greensburg, he was the son of George and Bessie (Martin) Swegman. On March 14, 1936, he married Thelma M. (Ames) Swegman, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 1997.

Mr. Swegman worked for the New York Central Railroad for 25 years. He also worked at Bohn Aluminum, Greensburg, for 27 years.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and American Legion, both at Greensburg.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Swegman, Westport, and Gary Swegman, Greensburg; two daughters, Donna Gossett, Greensburg, and Connie Jones, Shelbyville; two sisters, Florence Chappel, Anderson, and Marilyn Bills, Milroy; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. David Thompson. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
