FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE CONDUCTED THURSDAY
Death claimed one of Greensburg's oldest and most respected citizens this morning, when Will Ryan passed away at his home at the corner of Hendricks and Lincoln streets at 9 a.m. On September 21 Mr Ryan would have been 89 years old.
The son of Michael and Mary Jane Hall-Patterson Ryan, Will Rayn was born september 21, 1858, in Decatur county, where he spent his entire life except for a few years when he resided in Indianapolis and in Tipton county, Indiana.
On April 24, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Keisling, who died December 6, 1884, leaving one son, Charles L Ryan. September 16, 1886, Will Ryan was married to Willimina Sefton, whose death occurred May 20, 1928. To this union was born one daughter, Nettie J Ryan.
Surviving are the son, Charles L Ryan, the daughter, Miss Nettie Ryan; three grandchildren, Miss Ruth Ryan, of Greensburg, Mrs Ed (Jane) Ryan, of Columbia, Mo, and Charles Loyd Ryan Jr, of St Louis Mo; and one great-granddaughter, Patricia Louise Ryan, of St Louis.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Mrs Kittie Lanham and Mrs Sarah Meek, and three brothers, Joseph Patterson, John Patterson, and Thomas Patterson.
Affiliated with the I O O F and Masonic lodges and Eastern Star, Mr Ryan was widely known throughout the state for his skillfully hand carved gavels, which he presented to the worthy matrons of the Order of Eastern Star.
Several years ago he was presented a 50-year membership pin in the Masonic order.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Oliger funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev Earl Riley, followed by burial in South Park cemetery. The Odd Fellows will hold their service at the funeral home and the Masonic lodge will hold its service at the graveside.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 o'clock this evening.
