79Don was born in Minot, North Dakota on June 4, 1942. He Graduated in 1965 from NDSU University with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. His career spanned 45 years from starting as an intern in 1965 to retiring in 2010. Don's crowning glory of all was the North Dakota Heritage Center Project. He also had the privilege to serve as the Architect of the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota and work in the shadows of one of the worlds most renowned architect, Marcel Breuer, which was truly the experience of his lifetime. Don served as North Dakota Architectural President and on the National Board. He was awarded the prestige's award of the Richard Upjohn Medal of AIA, this award is bestowed to those who have served the profession of Architecture through service on the National Board of Directors.

Don loved spending time with his children and grandchildren more than anything. He also loved golf, Western dancing and being outdoors. He was a kind, caring, honest and loyal man. During his illness he was always positive and strong in his faith.
