Mrs. Samantha A. Paul Dead
Mrs. Samantha A. Paul, wife of Captain W. M. Paul, died at her home five miles east of Versailles, Saturday, November 9, of cancer of the stomach, aged sixty-three years, one month and twenty-two days.
Deceased was born in Thornville, Ohio in 1844. She was married to W. M. Paul June 29, 1873 in Lancaster, Ohio. To them were born four children who, with the father, survive her, as follows: Mrs. Lillian Mereness and Etta E. Paul of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Walter M. Paul of Carrol County, Iowa; and Emory A. Paul of this county. About five years ago deceased with her husband came to this county, locating on the farm where she died.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday morning, November 11 by Rev. W. C. Bewley, pastor of the Methodist church of Versailles, after which the remains were interred in the city cemetery. All the children were present at the funeral. Deceased was a good Christian woman and a member of the Methodist church.

Samantha Stuter was born in Perry County, OH to Jacob and Harriet Chamberlain Stuter.There were three children born to this marriage Wilson Shannon,Samantha Adaline and Percival Brayton Stuter.Their father Jacob died before 1850 and their mother married a John Bright. Two children were born to this union giving them two half sisters, Laura and Zula Bright.
Samantha loved to sew, and made beautiful quilts, tatting and clothes. She moved with her husband from Ohio to Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri where she passed away. She was a devoted Mother and wife and was sorely missed by all her family.
