THOMAS JAMES AUSTIN

Thomas Austin died suddenly at about 8:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, in the Eastern Plumas Community Hospital.

He had been a resident of this area since 1930, and had owned and operated the Red Feather Cabaret since 1941.

Thomas James Austin was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 9, 1891. His grandmother was one of the pioneer settlers of Salt Lake City. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Edward Reynolds Post No. 329 of the American Legion- He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of E Clampus Vitus.

Mr. Austin was interred at the Shady Grove Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by the American Legion, and were held in the Memorial Hall Sunday. He is survived by his widow, Edith; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Lanterman of Portola; a brother. Roy of Salt Lake City; sisters Lucille Butcher of Salt Lake; Lillian Dale, Tooele, Utah and Ruby Roberts of Hayward, California.
