The Rev. Mason A. Bennett, 90, of Route 6, Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in a local nursing home.

The Rev. Bennett was a retired minister, was retired from Carnation Can and was employed with Rish Equipment for 10 years.

He was born at Mt. Clare on March 7, 1920, a son of the late Silas Ofa and Nancy May Reed Bennett.

On Oct. 15, 1960, he was married to Martha Jean Thompson Bennett, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2006.

Surviving are one brother, Orie Bennett of Liberty Addition and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dorsey Glen Bennett; one sister, Wilsie Mavis Bennett; and one sister-in-law, Betty Bennett.

Until entering Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the Rev. Bennett was in the ministry for 53 years, including First Church Evangelical United Brethren Morrison Chapel, Mt. Zion Community Church and Center Branch Baptist Church. He also conducted Sunday services at Meadowview Manor for many years. Anyone who was blessed enough to have known Mason knows that his life was a "living Bible." He touched so many lives, young and old, but never took credit for the effect that he had on them. He always gave that glory to God. The love of Jesus Christ manifested itself in the man who was Mason Bennett. He will be missed, but the memory of this "man of God" will live in all of us forever.
