Grover Edward Smith
February 25, 1947 ~ September 3, 2022 (age 75)

Grover E. Smith, age 75, of West Tawakoni, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his home. Funeral Services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., at Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home.

Grover was born on February 25, 1947, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to the late Clarence B. Smith and Margie Pauline LeMaster Smith.

Grover enlisted into the United States Army on January 28, 1966, in Carlsbad, New Mexico and honorably served his country as a member of the Army Fire Crew. During his military career, he earned pistol expert and rifle marksman, as well as several medals including the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharge on January 27, 1972. Grover was the last living member of his platoon. He worked in construction until his retirement. He moved to West Tawakoni 30 years where he enjoyed fishing with his friends. He was a simple man that loved feeding hummingbirds but also had a stubborn 'my way or the highway' outlook. He enjoyed eating out and prayed before each meal. Grover loved the Hwy 80 garage sale each year, riding around car lots and finding roads less traveled to explore. He loved playing the Buffalo Slots at Choctaw Casino. Grover loved plants and flowers but admitted that he didn't have a green thumb to grow them, so all his beautiful plants were only temporary. When asked about his goals in life, he would say, 'to have green grass'. He enjoyed going to the gun range to practice his marksmanship. Grover was also a diehard Republican and Trump Supporter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles C. Smith in 2016 and Reginald Smith in 2017: and his sister, Ruth Ann Smith.

He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his best friends, Dalton, Weldon, Melissa, and Harley Featherston of West Tawakoni. His K9 kids, Sissy and Little Bit and his kitty kids, Baby Cat, and Socks, and his love of his life Hester.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference." by Robert Frost
