Age 89, of El Dorado, AR, passed away Thursday at Hillsboro Manor, after a lengthy illness; born in Lexington, Tennessee, daughter of William Carl Edwards and Stella Stewart Edwards; grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, graduated from Hot Springs High School and went to work immediately for the telephone company; a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado; served as a bible study leader, Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir and served with the Women of the Church as well as several other committees; a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Robert Rosamond Chapter); El Dorado Musical Coterie; the YWCA and was a devoted legal secretary to her late husband, her son-in-law, Carl J. Madsen, and her son Jim.

Preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, Bruce C. Bennett; her parents; two sisters, Ada Barry of Little Rock, Arkansas, Elizabeth Lambert of Longmont, Colorado, and her brother Carl Edwards of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan L. Madsen of Stuttgart, Arkansas and her son James B. Bennett (Lisa) of El Dorado and her sister-in-law Barbara Bennett Buckalew, also of El Dorado; seven grandchildren Seth, Sally, and Sam Bennett of El Dorado; Bruce Madsen (Leslie) of Humphrey, Arkansas; Michael Madsen (Kim) of Hernando, Mississippi; Leslie Brewer (Bryan) and Jennifer Bueker (Kirk) all of Stuttgart, Arkansas, as well as nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and their spouses.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado, 300 E. Main, El Dorado, Arkansas, 71730; the Barton Public Library, 200 E. Fifth,
El Dorado, Arkansas, 71730; or a charity of the donor's choice.
