Jane Shannon Laich

Mrs. Jane Shannon Laich, age 75, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Mrs. Laich was born in Morrisdale, PA on December 6, 1932, daughter of the late Paul G. Shannon and Hannah G. Davidson Shannon. A 1950 graduate of Morris Township (PA) High School, she earned her bachelor's degree and later her master's degree in counseling from the University of Delaware. She retired in 2001 as the Co-Chief Executive Officer of Health Care Commons Services in Carneys Point, NJ. A longtime member of Holy Family parish in Newark, DE, Mrs. Laich volunteered in the church library, as well as the nurse's department of Pencader High School in New Castle County, DE. She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, and baking, but will be lovingly remembered most of all as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, who delighted in spending time with her beloved family and her many friends.

Her husband, Edward R. Laich, died in 1988. She is survived by 3 children, Paul K. Laich and wife, Anne, of Coatesville, PA; Kimberly Laich Minker and husband, Allan, of Media, PA; and Mark Shannon Laich of Boston, MA; 2 brothers, Paul F. "Frank" Shannon of Marlborough, CT; and John A. "Jack" Shannon of Philipsburg, PA; 5 grandchildren, Paul Laich, Aerin Laich, Julia Minker, Paige Laich and Davis Laich; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
