She was born in Bartholomew County, IN on January 22, 1925 to Hazel and Carmel Settle. Elizabeth was the oldest of their five children.
She was one of the few women who served her country during WWII as a Navy Wave storekeeper. After having to endure the slurs thrown at her for serving her country during that time, Elizabeth commented that the experience made her a "tough old bird".
After she returned from the war, she met Raymond Henry "Shine" Baute; they were married on December 29, 1950. They had three children, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren Leah.
Elizabeth is preceded by death by her parents; brother, Edward; husband; and son, John.
Indiana Funeral Care is handling her arrangements. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. Elizabeth will be cremated and buried at a later date in the National Cemetery in Marion, IN per her wish.
