Peggy Sue Gold died Dec. 8, 2010, at Providence Alaska Medical Center from a heart attack. She was 64.

Peggy was born May 3, 1946, in Yuba City, Calif., to Joseph and Ruby Adams. She was the youngest of six children. After graduating, she moved to Oakland, Calif., where she met and married Charles Gold on Sept. 20, 1969.

In 1974, without ever having seen snow before, they moved because of a job transfer to Fairbanks, where they lived for the next nine years. They moved to Anchorage in 1983 for another job transfer and remained here and raised their two children. Peggy worked for 26 years at Chugach Electric Assn. as a purchasing agent. She had planned to retire in the next year, and had always wanted to hold and rock newborn babies as her second career.

A sports enthusiast, she loved the Oakland Raiders and Chicago Cubs almost as much as she hated them at times. She also loved playing softball, always sacrificing her body to the game. Just two years ago she broke her leg sliding into second base. When asked why she had to slide, she responded, "The double was there; I had to take it!"

Peggy was not only a devoted wife and loving mother, but also a surrogate mother to many co-workers, friends and acquaintances. She loved indiscriminately and tried throughout her life to never let a person's need go unmet. She had an uncanny ability to make a person laugh with her "Peggy-isms" and was always ready with an encouraging word and smile.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles; and their children and families: son, Jason and wife Iona and their children Cole, Andrew and Samuel; and daughter, Joelle and husband Joshua, who are expecting a son; and two brothers and their families--Ruble Wayne Adams (12/21/1933-12/3/2018 CA) and Lowell Dean Adams.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two older sisters; and one brother.

At her junior-senior prom her prom dress hid a very badly skinned up leg--caused by sliding into base.
