Mrs. Mary Katherine "Maude" Shuffler, 91, formerly of 148 B&O Avenue, Frederick, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5, at the Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick, where she had made her home since 1978.

Mrs. Shuffler had resided in Chambersburg, Pa., with her son, Irving L. Shuffler, prior to entering the nursing home. She was the wife of the late Irving L. Shuffler, Sr., who predeceased her in 1958.

Born April 23, 1893, in Lander, Mrs. Shuffler was a daughter of the late John R. and Mary Rebekkah O'Brien Crawford. Mrs. Shuffler was a life-long member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick.

Surviving are one son, Irving L. Shuffler, Jr., Chambersburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ms. Janet Michael and Shirley Simpson, both of Frederick, Charles F. Hahn Jr., Martinsburg, W. Va., Douglas M. Shuffler, York, Pa., Karl Juan Shuffler, Houston, Texas and Thomas M. Shuffler, Waynesboro, Pa.;nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Luvenia Hahn in March, 1954.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p,m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Smith, Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, from Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. W. Phillip Fogarty, pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
