Violet Elvera Keller was born on April 30, 1925, in Kulm, North Dakota, to Lydia A. Bader, age 23, and Robert Keller, age 26. In 1945 she married Harry James Canavas, and they had one daughter, Mary Margaret Canavas. Her husband Harry died of TB in 1957. She then married Joseph Anthony Cruz on October 3, 1964, in Sioux City, Iowa. She died on July 10, 2005, in San Diego, California, at the age of 80. She was survived by her daughter, Mary Calhoun, and her granddaughters Merrit and Sloane.
