Ellene Duncan Thomas, 73 of Cookeville died suddenly Saturday, September 3, 2022 at her home. She was born Saturday January 1, 1949 in White County, Tennessee to the late Woodroe and Lela Mae Brown Duncan.

Ellene was raised in the Yankee Town Community of White County. She graduated from White County High School and attended the former Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga.

She spent most of her professional career serving as the Executive Assistant with the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce where she retired with over 30 years of service. After retiring from the Chamber, she worked a number of years with the Bank of Putnam County.

She was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving as a greeter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Kenny Thomas; two sisters: Bernice Bumbalough and Rowena Clark; and her brother: Ardell Duncan.

She leaves behind her sister: Mary Clark and brother-in-law: David Clark both of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 6th in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Cookeville City Cemetery.
