Donald D. Abernathy, 83, of Seymour passed from this life on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 12:37 a.m. at Seymour Place Assisted Living Community.

Mr. Abernathy was born on May 15, 1939, in Anderson, Indiana the son of Paul Harvey and Mable Holsinger Abernathy.

On October 19, 1963, he married Joyce Marie Crouch.

A proud American he severed and retired from the United States Navy, he then went on to work for IBM. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, St. John's Masonic Lodge No. 20, and the Bartholomew County Shrine Club. He enjoyed doing magic and becoming a magician.

Survivors include his daughter, Sylvia (Kevin) Bearry of Seymour; granddaughter, Montanna (Chase Asbell Plummer) Bearry of Columbus; and 2 sisters.

He was preceded in death by her parents; his wife, Joyce M. Abernathy on September 16, 2006; and one sister.

Private inurnment will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
