Polly Ann Thomas, 64 of Martinsville, passed from this life after a short and unexpected illness on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, at 6:56 PM at the IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Her life began on Tuesday, January 7th, 1958, in Martinsville, Indiana. She was one of nine children born to the late Elbert Jay and Lilly Mae (Crowe) Fox.
Polly spent most of her life in Martinsville and approximately twenty years in Plainfield, before returning to Martinsville in 1990. She had worked for several years at Forkey's Restaurant in Martinsville prior to her medical disability. Though her health had been failing over the past several years, Polly remained a dedicated and loving mom to her three children, mamaw to her beloved grandchildren and a devoted wife to her husband, Sonny. Family was Polly's lifeline! She adored time spent with her grandchildren and would spend countless hours coloring with them, playing games, or simply anything they wanted her to do. She also loved to go to yard sales and flea markets, and she was an exquisite cook. Co-workers, friends and family will always remember her kind heart and her ability to always make friends she was quite a 'social butterfly'!
Those left to honor her legacy and hold tight to their fond memories include her husband, Sonny of Martinsville; two sons, Brian (wife, Christina) Thomas and Dave Thomas all of Martinsville; daughter, June Thomas of Martinsville; two step-sons, Jeff Hammonds of Martinsville and Joey Hammonds of Union, Missouri; three brothers, Dale Fox of Mooresville, Warren Fox of Bedford and Tim Fox of Martinsville; four sisters, Janet Fox of Lafayette, IN, Marsha Winchester of Avon, IN, Cindy Edwards of Brownsburg, IN and Cheryl Fox of Martinsville; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Brookelynn, Allyson and Emily Thomas, Kyle and Brittney Dawson, and Annalese Bough; two great grandchildren, Yohanan and Amia Thomas; four step-grandchildren, Mariah, Katie, Colby and Chance Hammonds and one step great grandchild.
Along with her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her three children, Lloyd A. Thomas Jr. in 1990: and one brother, Danny Fox.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 2nd from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Pastor Matt Tucker will conduct a service celebrating Polly's life immediately after the visitation at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be buried beside her late husband, Lloyd Thomas, in Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, following a committal service at 10:00 am at the cemetery.
