She graduated from Louisiana Tech University and went to work for United Gas in 1944. Her job took her to Houston working for Intex Inc in 1966 and in 1970 she married Robert "Bob" McCants. They spent many happy times traveling the world. She retired in 1979 as a corporate secretary.
She was a woman of faith, always involved in a Bible study and volunteering at her church. She had a long healthy, happy, and exciting life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell Chandler and Robert Earlie Powell; her husband, Robert "Bob" McCants; sisters, Iva Reynolds, Mertie Powell, and Ina Collins; brothers, Robert "R.E." Powell, and Elmer Powell; a stepson, Kevin McCants; and her granddaughter, Stacie McCants.
She is survived by her stepson, Earle McCants; grandsons, Edward McCants and Glenn McCants; great-grandsons, Robert McCants and Kevin McCants; and many nieces and nephews.
