WALTER H. HELLER - Wednesday - February 1, 1995

WENATCHEE - Walter H. Heller, 81, of Wenatchee and a longtime resident of Chelan, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1995, at his home of cancer.
He was born June 8, 1913, to Harry and Bessie (Pitts) Heller, at Chelan, where he was raised and received his education.
He married Pearl Cross in January 1931; they were later divorced.
Mr. Heller worked in the copper mines at Howe Sound for several years. He then worked for the Beebe Orchard Company.
He served in the U.S. Army, 110th Armored Division, in Europe during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Chelan and worked with John Rainier as a carpenter.
Mr. Heller then worked in heavy construction, including the building of Rock Island, Chief Joseph, Rocky Reach, Wells and The Dalles dams. He also worked on the construction of the Vantage bridge.
He married Charlene Fisher on Nov. 8, 1958, at Cusick. They restated their vows on Jan. 13, 1995.
Mr. Heller retired in 1970 and did general repair work for many elderly people in the Chelan and Wenatchee area. He and his wife managed Over the Hill trailer park in Chelan.
He was a member of the Wenatchee Carpenters Union Local No. 2205. He and his Army buddies held annual reunions until recently.
Mr. Heller is survived by his wife, of the home; two sisters, Irene O'Neal Wright of Chelan, and Pearl Fels Adams of Wenatchee; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and a brother.
