He was born on February 14, 1949 in Searcy, AR to the late Jay P. Green Sr and Mary Virginia (Bates) Green. Jay proudly served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
He was a graduate of John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, DE and later obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Indiana State University.
His marriage was to Sheryl O'Conner. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2021.
Jay enjoyed driving his grandchildren around, watching football, basketball, racing and eating at mom-and-pop restaurants.
Surviving are two sisters; one son; and ten stepchildren. The many grandchildren this large extended family provided him were the joy of his life. He usually drove a seven or eight passenger vehicle because he most often had at least a handful of grandkids with him at any given time. Nobody in this family has had to pay a babysitter in years. Dad, Papaw, Jay, Junior, or Grandpa, however you knew him, know that he will be looking down upon you and rooting for you as you move forward.
Along with his wife, Jay is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at New Richmond Cemetery.
