Obituary
HARVEY, Mickie Beams, age 97, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. She was born to Charles and Susan Beams in Hazard, Kentucky, on July 4, 1925. Mickie graduated from Hazard High School, class of '44. She retired as president of the gift shops of Imperial House Motels in Dayton in 1980, after 25 years of service. She was an active community member and was a lifetime member of the Miamisburg Moose and the Waynesville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 615. In addition, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the VFW in Matlacha, Florida.

She was a strong, inspiring southern lady ahead of her time. Her husband, James, honorably served our country. During his service, they lived on six different bases, making numerous friends in the Air Force and lived in Alaska before it became a state. She greatly loved traveling and going on new adventures. She traveled extensively through Europe and lived in England for a short time. She also enjoyed visiting different state parks. As she got older, she became a snowbird and loved her place in Matlacha, FL, where she had several friends. Some of her favorite memories included being with her friends and family on the golf course. She was an avid golfer who was very good at the sport, having three holes in one, the last being at the age of 85. A family tradition was having big dinners; she didn't necessarily love the cooking aspect of it. It was the quality time of being with those she loved, shucking corn and snapping beans. After the meals, she would sit and talk. Among many things, she will be remembered for how proud she was of her grandsons; she lived and breathed for them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1993; parents Charles and Susan Beams; two brothers Donald and Kermit Beams; and four sisters Bobbi Scuder, Verda Beams, Irene Armor, and Ruth Ebling. She is survived by her daughter Becky (John) Hanauer and two grandsons, James and Michael Hanauer.

Funeral services will be 6 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be 1 pm Monday, August 15, at David's Cemetery in Dayton. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com
